🐾 Now Hiring: Part-Time Animal Care (Cats & Small Animals)
Rhode Island SPCA | Warwick, RI

Do you love animals and want to make a real difference in their lives? The Rhode Island SPCA is seeking a compassionate, hardworking individual to join our team as a Part-Time Animal Care Associate. This role is hands-on and essential to ensuring the health, safety, and happiness of the cats and small animals in our care.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide daily food, water, and care to shelter animals

  • Monitor animal health and behavior, promptly reporting concerns

  • Assist with intake, evaluation, and treatment of animals

  • Keep detailed animal records and perform data entry

  • Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and general areas following disease control protocols

  • Assist clients with adoptions and facilitate positive interactions with animals

  • Deliver excellent customer service to adopters, volunteers, and fellow staff

  • Promote our mission, programs, and donation opportunities

  • Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a safe work environment

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required

  • Prior customer service experience

  • Ability to work weekends and holiday shifts

  • Compassion for animals and comfort working in a shelter environment

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and multitasking skills

  • Knowledge of cat and small animal behavior (a plus!)

  • Basic computer skills in a Windows environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift (up to 50 lbs with accommodations)

  • Willingness to work in an environment with animal allergens, cleaning products, and the possibility of bites or scratches
