Animal Care- Part Time

Availability and a willingness to work a flexible schedule are a plus. Includes weekend and holiday work. Must be at least 18 years of age and have valid driver’s license. This position is part time, approximately 20 hours per week, mornings 8-12.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Part Time Animal Care Position is responsible for the daily care and cleaning of any animals in the care of the Rhode Island SPCA. 

Other daily duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning and sanitation of animal housing and shelter areas, laundry, assisting with animal exercise and enrichment, and other projects identified by management.

This position requires the ability to work independently and also as a member of a team, a positive attitude, and strong attention to detail.

Other responsibilities could eventually include: processing animal intakes, facilitating adoptions, and assisting with other shelter related programs as needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate must have a caring and compassionate attitude. Candidates must also possess excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong work skills such as good attention to detail, multi-tasking and the ability to work in an organized manner are required. We are looking for individuals who are dependable and have a love and experience working with animals. Experience with large breed dogs is a plus.

Candidates must be able to work weekends and some holidays.
